Okay I finally moved up to Windows XP
When I installed Current version of MJ, I could not uncheck generic driver or 2 second gap.


SO... I download the the current ASPI DRIVER 4.71 and followed the instructions for install, but the Version check progam states that not all the componets are installed!!

However, I can uncheck generic driver and 2 second gap, also my cd burner can write cd text, which it could not do before.

Also, I have burned a cd and played it back everything went perfect and the cd played perfect.  WOW!

My system info is below and it does not look good for the ASPI info.  This is kind of scaring!!!!!

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank You in advance!

Your system info looks good to me. Did you use the aspichk.exe program that came with the 4.71 download? The older one with the 4.70 download gave an incorrect error message that some aspi components had older versions (4.6) even though those components didn't need an update to 4.7. I think you're good to go.

I did run the aspichk.exe program that came with 4.71 after I installed 4.7.  I am at work, I will copy what it said later tonight, what it said was something like all your componets are not installed.

But it works!!

I know this is not a MJ problem, thats why appreciate your help. I figure if anyone knows the anwer it would be here at MJ.

I ran the aspichk.exe program that came with the 4.71 download.


It says the following

Warning ASPI Componets(s) missing

WOWPOST.EXE  0 BYTES
WINASPI.DLL  0 BYTES
ASPI32.SYS 4.71V 16512 BYTES
WNASPI32.DLL 4.71V 45056 BYTES

Does this look right?
Can someone with XP PRO run the checker and see what yours says

Snipped from the 4.71 readme file:

Microsoft Windows XP      wnaspi32.dll, aspi32.sys

So it looks like wowpost.exe and winaspi.dll are not needed under XP. I think it's just a bug in the aspichk.exe program to report their absence as an error.
