Yes it was different.
It enabled the database to be sorted (by artist) in variety of ways according to number of tracks, time, number of albums etc.
It was handy in a variety of ways, for example:-
I have a rule with file organisation. Artists with less than five tracks go into a big folder just called "Assorted". Artists with more than five tracks get their own folder.
Using the "All FIles" view of V7 it was easy to sort the Artists with less than five tracks from those with more than five. Now its hard. Well, actually, you just have to do it manually.
I also found that it revealed quirky and interesting info. Like one day I noticed, using "All Files" to sort by "Time" that the 128 Sinatra tracks I have are exactly equal in length to the 39 Tangerine Dream tracks I have. You would only ever see such stuff it is presented side by side as "All Files" allowed.
I know it don't sound like much but it undoubtedly created an additional layer of stimulation and enhanced funkiness to browsing the database.
And let's face it, you can't have too much enhanced funkiness, right?
