Anyone know the settings to make DirecTv work with MC?
« on: June 18, 2010, 06:51:18 pm »

I am still using MC14 (latest version), but I will move to 15 if it's verified that this will work.

I have a DirecTv HR21, and a MC14 server.  I have tried many things to get MC to display photos on my TV, but I have not had any luck yet.  Can somebody who has this working PLEASE list their settings here? Please?

BTW, I also need support for a SoundBridge and iPods and MC-client on Win7.
Cheers,
RC

We don't have a DirectTV unit to test with, but DLNA / Media Network improvements have been a major focus of development in v15.

It's free to try Media Center 15, so maybe you could just give it a shot.

I should add that there are some improvements to how image conversion works for DLNA serving coming sometime next week.

I just downloaded MC15 trial this week and have it working with an HR20 PAC DIRECTV box and Win7 Ultimate 64.  I am having problems ripping with it, so I am using another program.  I don't know if these are the optimal settings, but it sounds pretty good.  I am sending the HDMI audio out from the HR20 into a Pre/Pro and letting it's DACs do the work.

HTH,
Tim

I ripped content to 16-bit and 24-bit lossless FLAC (highest setting of Eight).  Also tried WMA.

Under "Tools/Options/Media Network", I made the following modifications:

  • Allow sharing your media with other DLNA devices on your network. ...
[Add...] "Generic DLNA"
Display name: J River MC

Audio:
[v] Conversion = Convert unsupported formats
[v] Encoder = Uncompressed stream (using Gigabit CAT6 ethernet)

Images:
  • Shrink large images
  • Support image content
  • [v] Image conversion size: 1080 tv

    Advanced:
  • DLNA
  • DLNAExtra
