Grouping question
« on: June 29, 2010, 10:18:20 am »

For all the developers whom create and help bring MC15 to what is – thank you very much for great job.

I’m very impressed from your work on MC15. In the past, I examine most of the NMT in the market, and nothing comes close to MC15!

If I may suggest some improvement under “theater view”

1.Will it be possible to change the font color?

2.Will it be possible to add “group by” list, like in “normal view”?
The thing is when we create a playlist which include several subfolders we can see all the movies group by the folder they came from – this is in “normal view”  however in “theater
view” only the movies name show, and it’s not possible the “group them by folders etc…

3.When we view the movies list (under “theater view”) and want to play one of the movies,
the only possibility is to play it in full screen.
Maybe you can revise the MC code so, if I hit the play button the movie will play in a windows in the right side so user can watch to movie and still able to see the movies list.
(something like you have in “3D view”  for songs )

a general question:
Is it possible to install MC15 more than one installation on one computer under same windows user login and each of them will point to different library location?
If not, maybe it be possible to lock some playlist with password?

I hope I’m clear myself, special for point 3

Again thanks for great software.

2. At Options - Theatre View, for any Item you may add as many categories as you like under Details.

3. At Options - Theatre View - Behaviour set Jump on play (video) to "Theatre View Playing Now."

General question: What is your purpose? If it's to restrict access to parts of your collection, consider using the Access Control feature.

Feature request - theater view "group by"
« Reply #2 on: June 30, 2010, 09:23:02 pm »

Hi Rick

Many thanks for your answer.

Please let me explain my difficulty in option 2

I have folder named “movies” under this folder I have more 10 folder each have 10-100 movies files
so the path is like this: D:\movies\F1
                                             \F2
                                             \F3
                                             \F4...
                                             \F100

In “standard view” I create “smartlist” point to D:\movies AND set “group by”  “filename (path)“
this show automatically all the files I have in D:\movies  AND all subfolder under it grouping by folder name

Unfortunately this cannot be done under “theater view” and if I want to see the files grouping by folder name I most create separate playlist for all the subfolder…

Please help

Yes it can. When adding the category, set it's Type to "File path."

You could also extract the "F1, F2..." folder names to a category using the Fill properties from filename tool. Then this could be used to categorize movies in the normal way.

Theatre View is not the same as Standard View. What I've suggested is the equivalent to "grouping" in Theatre View.

Hi Rick,

Many thanks for your reply, yes I figure it up now, but I don't think I use it. Hope in the next MC update you will consider to add this options.

Thanks again.

BTW
any idea for this post?

I think this is very unlikely, as it already naturally groups by category.

I agree with the advice you've already received.
