How do I configure JR 15 to play online radio?

You can browse radio in Audio > Web Media in the tree.

Or you can play a URL using File > Open URL...

I cannot find web media in the tree - under what heading can it be found?

Also, I have loaded a URL and have it play, but how do a save this url so that it can be identified and played again?

In 15.0.70, look in the tree at Audio > Connected Media > various channels

To add your own website/ URL, right-click on "Connected Media" in the tree.

Or, in the main window, go to the desired online "radio". Then click the pulldown of the tab of that window, and select Add Website to save the current URL and specify a suitable name.

In some cases, all you can do is store a URL that takes you to a site where you then must use the site's player, so you'll lose it if you close the tab. In other cases, you might have to do some clicking but then the audio will start "in MC" -- you don't have to keep the tab open.

You might discover that you can get get multiple streams going at once, one in MC and the others use site players (quick path to insanity). To stop what MC is streaming, click MC Player's STOP button.

I use SKY FM (www.sky.fm) and Digitally Imported (www.di.fm) alot.

From their website, you need to choose the Help > Configure Player option, then select Other Player.

Once done, click on the links and it should open in MC automatically.

From there, I create a playlist for each 'Station' and drag the URLS that get entered in the Playing Now window into the playlist.

I've also done the same for BBC radio stations and Oz radio stations.

I then have a separate section in Theater View called 'Radio' from where I can play any of them.

Works really well.

This topic might be helpful as well. Don't be discouraged by the fact there are various means to the same end. It can be confusing. I use this technique because it allows me to tag, categorize and display them in Theatre View—just like any media. I like to choose streams by selecting source (e.g., Sky.FM), country and/or style.

I have been able to get 2 classical stations so far. However, as I am running JR 15 Trial version I may be limited. Seems there are numerous stations that one can get for Windows M :)edia, Winamp, iTunes, but not many for the JR format. Perhaps I am missing something here as I am not too computer literate.

Anything that plays in WMP should play in MC.

What in particular are you trying to play so we can help you out...

Bear in mind that a lot of stations are now using flash player streams that MC won't open. You should be able to google and find the direct stream URL from somewhere though.

The only classical station that I have been able to download on MC is "Venice Classic Radio".

The stations I am trying to get working in JR are:

The other two sites seem to publicly provide only Flash streams.

A google search found this: http://www.classicfm.nl/player/classicfm.asx , but the sound is oddly broken.

Thanks for your help Alex.  I am getting the hang of things now. Using Firefox for online listening which is working well for me and I now have the stations I particularly like placed in my Bookmarks.
Truly like JRM for listening to my CD collection on my laptop .
