Warbling music on playback on a couple of occasion
« on: July 14, 2010, 10:04:59 pm »

I was listening to some music with JR 15 the other night and all of a sudden one track of music started warbling - stuttering - that when I stopped playback it went away upon stop and start, - but not when I went to pause and restarted.. This has happened 3 times now. Could anyone suggest what is happening and how to solve this issue?

I am running a benchmark HDR dac & Windows 7.

AUDIO OUTPUT
Output mode...(WASAPI)
Output mode settings - [Speakers (Benchmark 1.0)
Open device for exclusive access (checked)
3 remaining options are unchecked.

SETTINGS:
DSP 24 bit
Wasapi Settings Benchmark
prebuffering.... 6 sec
Play silence at startup.... (none)
Play files from memory (unchecked)

TRACK CHANGE
Switch tracks ...3 sec
Do not play silence..(unchecked)
Use gapless (CHECKED)

STOP & SEEK
Seek smooth (normal)
Stop immediate (checked)

ALTERNATE MODE SETTINGS
Switch tracks Standard (gapped) -0.1s
Stop: Fadeout (slow)
Seek: standard (checked)

Thanks,

Bill

Hi, Bill

Sorry, I have no answers for you but I'm jumping in because I've had similar problems. Wouldn't call it warbling, but a real nasty distortion. Most settings are close to yours, using a PS Audio DAC. Stop and restart always works, but I believe the distortion continues to the next tracks if you let it play. I've left MC running and just turned off the amps to come back to the noise.

Good luck,
Alan
