Problem playing CDs with MJ (please help!)
« on: June 22, 2002, 05:12:05 am »

Hello!

As the subject says, I'm no longer able to play CDs in my cdr drive. It has never been a problem until today. Perhaps I just haven't played any CDs for a while and it been around longer - I don't know. Anyway, MJ recognizes the CD but it won't play it saying "Please select file(s) to play". When I check the CD in explorer the cda files are there. I try to right-click and play them through both MJ and Media Player. No use! Something has gone wrong here and I think it has something to do with Windows Media Player since MJ uses its technology. I tried another program, Siren Jukebox, and it plays CDs, no problem. I use Windows XP and I've tried to repair it, no success there either.

Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, you are my only hope!

Best regards,

E-Joe

These are my system specs:

256 MB RAM

Choose the CD you want in MJ and press the play button.

If you want to do it from explorer, you need to tell MJ to "associate with CD's".  It's under file associations in MJ/settings/options.  At the bottom.

Had to re-install XP from scratch

Thanks for the reply Jim. I know computers fairly well but couldn't get it to work. Really weird the whole business. Associating CDs with MJ didn't help - nothing did except a complete re-installation.. sad. Something "bad" must have happened to the whole system.

Now things are fine though and I'm happy as ever!
