I used "Search Forums" to look for "NEX II" in the subject line of postings.  Reading the above link seems to imply that somebody has this working.

Folks,

You don't need a special plugin in order to use your NEXII with MJ8.0.
What you do need is a working USB port and driver. In general If your able to see
your NEXII as a removable drive using WIndows explorer (say as drive HNext Page, then
you should see this removable drive H: by clicking on the 'CD,DVD & Handhelds' entry
in MJ8 explorer. From there you just drag & drop songs to your NEXII,
eventually transcode to mp3 or wma.

Concerning USB :
WIN 95/98 : you need to install the driver that came on a CD with your NEXII.
WIN NT 4  : USB support is not native in the OS, I think there's a commercial driver, not sure
WIN 2K/XP : No problem, no need to install anything, NEXII should work flawlessly.

Note: Although I use my NEXII with MJ8.0 under WinXp/pro without a problem, I have
never used it with MJ7, but I thinks it should work.

hope this will help.

Have a nice sunday

Cmagic,

So what is your overall impression of the Nex II?  My digital camera uses Compact Flash, so I am looking for a player to use it as well.  The Diva also looks like an interesting choice.  The Diva looks smaller, lighter, and prettier but is out of stock.  The Nex II can play WMA in addition to MP3, supports Type II flash, has longer battery life and seems to be in stock.  Even though it is a little bigger and heavier, the Nex II still looks to be a good for jogging (a requirement for me).

I'm leaning towards the Nex II but am always looking for more options...

Thanks,
Chris

Chris,

The NEXII is a nice little mp3/wma player. What attracted me was the fact
that it can also work as a portable disk drive and the price was very good
(around $200 with a 128MB CF).
But at the same time I am a bit frustrated by their web site which does no
seem to be updated very frequently.

As for jogging, it is very good, it is light enough. Battery lifetime is in
between 10 to 14 hours (depending on the battery brand and playback volume)
I use my NEXII mainly for jogging and also last week I used it to carry some powerpoint
files to a meeting. (don't forget your USB cable)

The sound quality is Ok and the fact that it uses CF cards (type I & II (IBM microdrive))
makes it a good choice if you already have a digital camera.

In short, the NEXII has not many bells an whistles, it could be prettier (although it's ok)
but it does exactly what you pay for: play mp3/wma and store any files on CF cards.

Have a nice day,

Christian
