Any Minnesota Wild fans here? This winter’s NHL season has kicked off in Helsinki, Finland! Minnesota Wild is now playing against Carolina Hurriganes in the first match of the season.

I used to follow hockey a lot when I was in High School (the North Stars were the Minnesota team then, now in Dallas). My friends and I used to play outside most every day in the winter. After a while I got tired of the brawling in the pro game and was more interested in the Olympic game. In 1980 when we won the gold, half of the team was from Minnesota! (almost all of the team was college players). When they started letting the pro's play in the Olympics, I lost interest. We have several REALLY good college teams here, it's a more fun game I think. Often the ice surface is more like the Olympics, larger than the pro's so you get more of a freewheeling game.

the hockey in the NHL has become so boring last years, no stars no nothing..but the players earn a lot though
