E.T.A. on Nano 6G?
« on: September 14, 2010, 08:56:32 pm »

My iPod Nano 2G died. Boo! But the new Nanos are here so I bought one. Yay! But I can't use it with MC. Boo!

Any idea when the new Nanos will be supported in MC15? No go as of 15.0.106.

(On the plus side, at least my old Mini still syncs. I remember when I thought that thing was small.)

Thanks!

I hadn't really been keeping up with developments in iPod compatibility, but after reading a little more I'm getting the idea Apple has killed the ability of MC (or anything else) to sync iPods. Have I got that right? Is my shiny new Nano really doomed to sync with nothing but iTunes? Crap, it's too small to be an effective paperweight.

I think the situation with the new Nano is unclear at the moment.  Apple has certainly locked down all of their iOS devices.  However, despite resembling it, the new Nano does not run a version of iOS.  The OS on the new diminutive iPod looks a lot like iOS, but is actually a heavily modded version of the "classic" iPod OS.

Thanks for the info. Some posts here gave me the impression that even the 5th generation Nanos were locked down and couldn't sync in MC. Was that not true? Maybe it just took a while to get it working?

The break point was when the camera was added to the nano. Starting with that one, the database is locked down.

I don't really care for the sync part. Even though it's great.

I just don't want to read the error message for the 1001 time.

You mean the one where the database version is different?
