Anyway to Split UI onto 2 screens?
« on: August 30, 2010, 06:03:39 pm »

I suspect I know the answer but I'll ask anyway as it points out a need that will only grow as touchscreens become cheaper and more pervasive in people's homes...

I'd like to have MC on my 23" touchscreen while the display output (Live TV, music visualizations, video playback, etc) display on my 2nd screen (my 65" big screen TV).

Essentially separating the control aspects from the viewing/display aspects.

Ideally, we'd have the standard MC window on the 'control' screen (touchscreen) and the Theater UI on the 2nd screen (big screen TV).

Is there any way to do this today for at least watching Live TV and/or recordings, or any future plans to do so?

thx

MC's Display View can be detached and moved to a second screen.

MC can also control another copy of itself remotely, using Tremote, assuming two PC's.

DLNA on your TV might also work, depending on equipment.

There are a couple of articles on our wiki that might help.  Try Remotes and Servers.

The Media Network board here might also be useful.

It all depends on what you want to do.
