Best sound output on Intel HD Audio system
« on: September 03, 2010, 03:36:40 am »

Hi, I have installed MC 15.0.95 on my new HTPC, which is based on an Intel DH57JG board and a Core i3 CPU. The board comes with Intel High Definition Audio, which I am using, and I connect my HTPC with my Onkyo TX-SR805 receiver using an optical cable.

I have read about the new Kernel Streaming feature but it doesn't work for my HTPC. Can someone please advise me how to setup Audio Output for best audio output to my receiver.

I think WASAPI exclusive would probably be best.

Thanks for replying! I am using WASPI now and it sounds good. Is Kernel Streaming better and what does it take to be able to use it?

Kernel Streaming is known to work on certain Windows Vista and Windows 7 configurations, but not with devices having WaveRT drivers such as High Definition Audio Devices integrated with newer motherboards.

If you don't see a device in Kernel Streaming Settings, this is the case

Thanks, I'll stick with WASPI. It sounds good now and as I understand it I am bypassing ALL computer processing and sending the sound directly to the receiver, which is what I want.
