shame on me!
I had copied the files with windows fileexplorer instead of dragdrop via MC.

sorry...

------------------------------

Hi to all,

I am using MC 13 for a long time now and it works perfect.
Now I have a new HTC phone and wanted to synchronize with the storage card. I experienced, that mediacenter does not show the artist or album name in the display grid (storage card of my phone).

I downloaded MC 15 trial version but it has the same behavior.
Am I doing s.th. wrong or is this a bug?

best regards from peter
who loves MC, especially as a tango dj

NOT solved - sorry - MC 15 does not show album or artist name for usb phone
« Reply #2 on: September 09, 2010, 02:54:32 am »

Sorry to all,
I thought it was solved, but it ist not.

OK, here are the steps to reproduce the error.

1) I created a playlist with some entries called MyPhonePlaylist (1000 music titles)
2) I set the sync option to this playlist.
3) I connected my phone
4) when looking into the phone/device list of titles, all artist and album names are shown from mp3-tags and it says, that this 1000 titles have to be transferred. (thats all correct)
5)  I started sync.

it took really long to sync, so i stopped sync after 72 songs.

next day i wanted to sync the rest, so...

1) I plugged in my phone
2) I started "analyze snyc"
3) the list showed 1000 titles to transfer and 72 to delete and... even more...
4) the titles to be deleted do NOT show the artist/album name

I think this is the reason why MC wants to delete these songs

I would be very good to make MC read the mp3-tags from the phones files.
Can someone tell me what is going wrong here?

BTW
- the phone is HTC kaiser
- OS is WM 6.0
- MC is 13

Thank you all in advance

Best regards from germany
Peter

Oh, one last Hint (just seen):
When i click (not double click) on an entry in the phones list, it says "filename .mp3 (size...) (file not found)

BUT the file is on the phone and the phone is connected... mmmh?

Any Ideas?

OK, while I am digging deeper, I found that there is no database path in the optionscreen.

I just entered one and will try again.

I keep you informed...

I am still not shure, what the core of the problem is.

Sync of 1000 or more files failes permanently.

So instead of syncronizing I just dragdrop initially 1000 fuiles in portions of 50 files.
this works for a while. but then no more files are transferred, it says "error" on every file.

I will try to disconnet and connect again ... we'll see

Sounds familiar to me.
Have the same problems syncing to a HTC (Win Mobile)
All is transferred to the HTC
Next time I connect MC sees none of the file on the phone and does everything anew while obvious the files are on the SD card.
Sometimes it works without a problem.
I have the feeling that the most recent builds are a bit more reliable.

One possible cause of confusion might be the way you connect to the PC.
Win Mobile has 2 modes
1-ActiveSync
2-DiskDrive
If you have done a sync using mode 1 and connect the next time using mode 2, MC won’t recognize the songs on the HTC and will treat it as a new connection to a new device.
