Can't Detect Iphone
« on: September 08, 2010, 08:03:07 am »

I have been a Media Center for quite some time and I have run into a new problem.  I sync two ipods via Media Center with no problem but when I pug in my iphone, Media Center does not detect it.  Windows sees the device as shown via Computer.  Furthermore when I try to manually assign the iphone and I browse through Windows, the iphone which show up in Windows via Computer, does not appear when I browse Computer via the browse feature under handheld options in Media Center.  I have also tried redetect and that doesn't work either.  I have needless to say rebooted but still nothing.  Anybody have a guess?

Thanks.

iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch are not supported: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=58634.0

Apple has locked these devices to iTunes with an encryption key.  It is possible to break this encryption (and some applications do), but that is a cat-and-mouse-game that JRiver decided not to play.  To sync to an iOS device, you must use iTunes in some manner.

Here is one of many workarounds: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=57278.0

Ah, good old Apple.

Thanks.  No problem.  The work arounds are pretty straightforward.
