Solved - HDHomerun Channel Scan Empty with MC15
« on: April 16, 2010, 05:04:05 pm »

I try to do a channel scan in MC with my HDHomerun (ATSC) and it is not finding any channels.  In the HDHomerun setup application I have set the "Main Application" as JRiver Media Center and have also tried WMC and Other:ATSC.  A channel scan in the HDHomerun setup application finds all the channels.  Is there a trick to get it to work in MC 15 (I had it working in MC14 a while ago)?

The only trick I found was to make sure Windows Firewall lets it through.....try turing the firewall off first to see if that is it....

Thanks!  That was it.  I didn't get a firewall access warning dialog until I tried to turn on the Library Server (I don't know why I didn't get an access warning when trying to do the channel scan).  After I approved/allowed MC in Windows Firewall, the scan was successful.

Also had this same problem.  Wanted to add to this thread some keywords I searched for:

Under "Tools" -> "Options" -> Devices -> Configure Device , I was getting the following message until creating a manual exception in windows firewall (Windows XP SP3):

Failure to Initialize TV Tuner Device

on my SiliconDust HomeRunHD.

The channel scan also was empty, but I was searching on that error message.
