When I started the company, in 1981, I used a combination of my name and the Mississippi River, which we can see from our windows, to make "James River Group, Inc.".  

Later, the name was changed to "JRiver, Inc." to avoid confusion with James River Corp, a large paper company.  

As soon as we did this, James River Corp merged with Fort Howard paper company and became Fort James.  We could have kept the name.
