While burning files from playlist using mj8.0(CHECKED FOR UPDATES AND REPORTS NONE) I recieve the following error: FINNISH DAO RECORDING" command failed on device 3:0:0 Read/Write error or bad medium detected (04h  00h 02h 03h 0ch 07h. I am using the latest monkey audio plug in from your site. I am using win98, plexwriter 12/10/32, amd athlon 800mhz, abit kt7-raid 384 meg ram. I have read and adjusted the device setting as instructed for win98 on your site in regards DMA and Autoinsert notification.  I am using 80 min cd and the amount indicator states that I should have room for the entire burn... wasnt sure on what else to try before asking for help. Please let me know what other information you might require regarding possible solutions.  Thank you. Try the FAQ here, the User Guide, and try reading some of the other messages in Interact.

Reduce your speed for burning and reduce the number of files (as a test).

Try installing ASPI if you haven't.

There are two types of burning and you can select one or the other by checking or unchecking "use generic..".

Probably ran out of space. Either an MJ bug in calculating the space required, or your media or burner just can't handle it. To confirm, try burning a few minutes less (use test mode if you want to avoid ruining a CD). If you think it's an MJ bug, please give us the details.

I ended up restoring my op-system to a point where everything was previously working....I checked into the aspi layer material and tried slowing the burn speed. I also tried recording just two songs....no luck.  After the "restore" everything seems to work fine....like you I would like to know what the actual problem was.  Anyway thankyou for your help.  I do not envy your job dealing with the public. Thanks again.

Tasha,

Isn't it the 'public' that makes this place so special?
