Burning and CD text
« on: June 17, 2002, 02:02:09 pm »

Hiya,
Couple of things about burning Audio CD's.
Firstly, well done!
If I burn one of my albums using MJ onto audio CD and then put it in the drive, a cddb lookup will actually return the correct CD for it which is very impressive for an album burnt from mp3's.
Never had that happen before.

On the down side however.
My Car CD Player doesn't seem to pick up any cd text from the audio cd's??
Can MJ burn cd text and if so then how do I enable it.

Thanks Next Page

First, you have to be using the non-generic burning driver ("use generic driver" unchecked on CD writer settings page), but most importantly, you have to have a burner that is supported by our burning library for writing CD-Text. Frankly, the support there is a little spotty. Check out this page to see if your drive is on the list:
http://www.goldenhawk.com/faq_body.htm#cdtext
Actually, I think there quite a few other drives besides those listed that will work (like newer versions of the ones listed), this list is not updated real often. In a future version of MJ I hope to have much more complete support for burning CD-Text.

Thanks.
I've unchecked the use generic driver and I'll see what happens with my next cd.
I'm using a Plex 124Txi (SCSI) and it's not on the list so I guess I'll just have to try by trial and error.
It might be possibly worth you guys like having a page where users can submit their results of trying different burners to give you guys a list of which burners work and which dont.

Thanks again,

Nila

My Plex 124Tsi (SCSI Burner) burnt cd text with no problems with the generic driver disabled.
