Shell Integration for Windows x64
« on: November 24, 2010, 10:52:28 am »

Hi! The following question: Is the Jukebox software (which I am a huge fan of) still being further developed? I'm having an issue with the shell integration ever since upgrading to Windows 7 x64 - the issue being that it simply doesn't work. I'd appreciate any information as to whether this might be patched at any point or whether there is a simple workaround to fix it.

Any v14 (or newer) based player should have x64 tooltips.  Here was the history entry:

14.0.59 (08/28/2009)
NEW: Shell extensions are available on 64-bit Windows.

Media Jukebox v14 is available at the top of this board.

Media Center is on version 15.

Hmm, I have v14.0.166 installed and have the 'Shell Integration' checked in options.

Yet there are no visible shell extensions, as in the entries:
Media Jukebox -- Play; Add To Playing Now; Replace & Play; Import etc.
Is there perhaps something I'm overlooking?

And I'm not sure what tooltips have to do with anything - yes, the tooltips work on the x64 but they're completely irrelevant for the shell?

It appears to me that Media Jukebox does not include an x64 JRShellExt.dll.

A future build of Media Jukebox will address this, although builds of Media Jukebox are not frequent.

You might consider trying Media Center 15 for now.

Thanks.

Okay, thanks for the information Matt. I'll probably just hang out until a new build for the Jukebox is released then - I've become so used to the program and configured it in such detail that I don't think I'll be switching to MC.

If a build fixing the problem is released or another solution for the problem shows up, I'd be super appreciative of a short reply in this topic.

Take care.

One more thing is that the Cover Art > Get From Internet option no longer exists. I'm guessing this is also an x64 related issue.

Cover art lookup uses a lot of our server bandwidth, and as such, is only part of Media Center.

If you like the software, you might consider helping support development by using Media Center.

Thanks.
