Convert files to MP3
« on: June 14, 2002, 08:38:55 pm »

I used media editor to cut an MP3 down to a shorter length.  I then selected the cut, attempted to save as an MP3 file, but it saved as a WAV anyway.  I then pulled up the saved WAV file and attempted to Convert to MP3, but it is not one of the Convert Options.  WMA's are the best I can do.  The MP3 seems to be offered by an External Encoder??? Am I missing a plugin?  I am using Version 8.0, first day of downloaded, and want to buy the PLUS version, but not if I can't convert to MP3 or if I can't save my edited MP3s back to MP3??  Help!

Hi Salmon27,

Run MJ, and go to options to configure the MP3 encoder.  It'll need to download it before the first use.

After that, the Media Editor should be able to use the MP3 Encoder.

Obviously, it'd be a lot smarter if the Media Editor invoked the download if necessary. (we'll fix that in a future version)

Hoping that does the trick...
