Shuffling Smartlists ?
« on: September 13, 2010, 05:14:57 pm »

I just updated to 15.0.106 and first, I must say that I am impressed by the developments in the DLNA server options. Kudos!

Now, my issue is that the Smartlists such as "4 or 5 Stars" always appear alphabetically sorted (by Artist) on my Denon receiver and I'm getting a little tired of listening to my music in alphabetical order... Is there a way to have the Smartlists shuffled when playing through DLNA?

TIA

Pierre

Try pressing the edit button or right click on the name of the smartlist and pick edit smartlist.

press the add new modifier button and pick Shuffle in the drop down list.

That appears to do the trick.  Merci beaucoup!

hmmm, that's all good when you want to shuffle a smartlist, but what if you want to preserve a particular order? For instance, I have a 'most played' smartlist and it is 'modified' to display by play number. Works fine within MC, but my DLNA clients (all of them) insist on sorting it out alphabetically. That's even more of a problem with playlists (as opposed to smartlists) where the reason to be is a specific play order that gets broken by DLNA client alphabetization. Is there a workaround?

I have to assume the answer is no, no workaround.
