I am building a new (PC Win 7) Media computer with J River Media Center Software. I selected an ASUS motherboard w Intel i5 processor that will provide HDMI directly out of the motherboard to a home theater (5.1) processor. No problems here!

I also have a Lynx AES16e card that goes in the system to provide 24/192 high res two channel audio directly to an external DAC and separate audio preamp. Also no problems.

Both in the same computer.... possible problem.

I only use one system at a time... either Theater or Stereo.  Is there a configuration of Windows 7 or J River that lets both audio sources co-exist at the same time? Ideally, both are active and can be selected at the Home Theater or Preamp without having to do a system reconfigure each time. If not, what's the best alternative?
