AVG causes problems with Library Server
« on: January 31, 2011, 11:18:14 am »

I don't know why I was asked to create a new thread about virus checkers, but I was, so here goes.  Original thread: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=62086.0

Can someone please answer these questions:

Now, can someone tell me WHY this works? Logically, you would not think that a virus scanner would interfere with a server. That's the job of a firewall. And if you are told that it is, you would logically assume that disabling it would solve the problem. Why does only uninstalling it fix the problem? More importantly, What do I do for virus protection now?

AVG is a well-known virus scanner. I wouldn't call it junk, but if it interferes with the proper operation of another application on my PC, then I suppose it is. So what do I do for protection now?
