How To Determine What nDeviceSessionID To Use For Handheld Sync
« on: February 27, 2011, 06:51:57 pm »

I want to set up an automatic sync to my generic handheld (on a local disk) using the MCC_HANDHELD_UPLOAD core command.  I just want to use the mc16.exe to call this from the command line and have the running copy of MC (almost always in Library Server mode on this machine) to run the sync to the "handheld" I have defined under Drives and Devices.

But I need to know how to set the nDeviceSessionID so that it properly syncs to this handheld (preferably without leaving the progress dialog open in the Action Window at the end).  That way I can run it via Scheduled Tasks in the middle of the night.

This is what I know:
loword: nDeviceSessionID (0 gets default), hiword: flags (1: sync only; 2: show warnings)

There's no simple way to get a session ID for a specific device.  But if you use zero, it'll use the default device.

Is the default device the one listed first in the tree (not counting the optical drives I hope, at least if they don't have any blank discs inserted)?

EDIT: This seems to work.

PS. Thanks.
