Should I Delete Library Back up Also ?
« on: March 19, 2011, 06:14:24 pm »

Almost finished re-tagging all my files. I plan on deleting my old library for a "fresh install" of my music files.
Should I delete my library back up as well, so that the new back up will reflect all the changes?
If so, which back up files should be deleted?
For safety, all my files are also archived on another drive.
Thanks.

It's not clear to me what you expect to achieve by this.

No! Especially when you're thinking about doing something like deleting your library. :o

Each backup is fully self-contained.

I plan on deleting my old library for a "fresh install" of my music files.
With all the work I put into re-tagging my files, I want to make sure that non of my old files will appear in the library.
Since my new library will have a new matching back up, why not delete the old library back up, which contains all the mis-tagged files?

An MC library isn't that large, so lots of backups is fine.  I have 23 backups currently, and this amounts to less than a single FLAC music track (at 30MB).   Make as many backups as you want - MC will also periodically backup.  Delete those you don't require if you're certain you don't want them.  But maybe it is not worth spending your time here...

Thanks. I just want to make sure that an incorrect library doesn't load in error.
