[Seq] not valid in thumbnail view?

I am trying to add the [Seq] number to my thumbnail text in a Playlist Thumbnail view but it just shows [Seq] instead of the correct number.  When I switch the same view to a Details view style it shows the Seq column correctly.  Why is this not valid when viewing as thumbnails?

Use instead the CustomData(#) function.
