NEED TRAINING OR INSTRUCTIONS

I am transitioning from a desktop to a laptop and want to move all my files and libraries. I just don't know the best way to make the move. I already moved them from desktop to an external harddrive using the "Rename, Move, Copy Files" function. Are there some instructions that someone can link me to?
