VMWare Fusion and a NAS: the ultimate test
« on: May 04, 2011, 05:09:48 pm »

Hey folks --

I have brought my NAS in to work so I can listen to music while I work while my housing is under construction. I didn't want to bring in my media PC, though, so I am just running MC16 through VMWare Fusion 3.1.2 on my MBP. So far, so good: best of both worlds, really. Audio can be a bit glitchy, though...so I'm trying to tweak it. I set prebuffering up to 10 seconds and cranked the other buffer (in "Output mode settings") up to a second. Still glitchy, though. So, two questions:

1) Anyone else doing this? (Probably, right...)
2) How do you do that thing where I give certain types of network traffic priority in Windows? (W7 Enterprise in VMWare, by the way.)

Also, for entertainment value, here is the JRBenchmark report:

I think that's actually higher than my media PC!  ;D
