Logitech Squeezebox playlist import problems

Hi. Don't know whether this is a MC, Windows or Squeezebox (7.5.4) problem, but hoping someone else has experienced this and might help:
I have been doing several attempts to import my MC (15.0.74, running on Vista Premium Home) playlists to Squeezebox, but keep getting this message: "scanner.exe - No disk" "There is no disk in the Drive. Insert a disk in drive \Device\Harddisk3\DR3". At the same time, both programs will hang/stop. The error message may mean this is a Windows problem, but that doesn't help me a lot. My music is, btw, stored on an external HD, while the playlists are stored on C:\, if that info may be useful.
Any suggestions out there?
