Some Ripped DVDs Wont Play
« on: June 25, 2011, 01:14:29 pm »

Trying Video again using MC16.119. Several play fine with RO Standard. Files are saved on our WHS as .TS. The ones that don't play actually start but immediately hang up. They do play okay in another player.

Here's the log of one. It's "Andrew Loyd Weber, The Definitive Collection". I'm presently using it on our small desktop monitor but it behaves the same on our large screen Plasma.  At the top of MC it hangs at "35 of 427". I am only showing a small part of the log, hopefully a helpful part. Notice line 0106330: 2792: Playback: CPlayerZone::Stop: Checking for not loaded playback engine.

Should I send a full log with more info to JRiver? There are quite a few that wont play and I need to somehow get this fixed.

Thanks,

Could you test what happens if you reduce the buffering in Options > Audio > Output mode settings... to 0.10 seconds?

Also, what happens if you clear the 'Bookmark' field for the DVD entry before starting playback (you can use Action Window > Tag)?

Thanks.

It's working now but not totally sure why. Here's what I did:

1. Lowered buffer to .10 sec. Movie still hung.
2. Cleared bookmark. Still hung.
3. Rebooted. Worked okay!
4. Increased buffer a lot. Movie still played but audio hesitates.
5. Lowered buffer to .10 sec and movie still played.

Was it the clearing of the bookmark AND rebooting that fixed it perhaps?

What is this bookmark all about?

In any case I'm happy - are you?

Thanks,
Rod
