Playing M4A to non-default audio device
« on: June 30, 2011, 11:00:37 pm »

Hi there,

I've been having some problems getting m4a files to play on the correct audio device. I send my music to a USB DAC, but files that are m4a, because they're being decoded by either Quicktime or Directshow, play directly to my default audio device, which are my pc speakers. Seeing as Quicktime doesn't offer the option to send audio to anywhere but the default device, I've been trying to get Directshow to send to my USB DAC, but haven't managed to do this yet. Is this actually possible? Can I get some sort of plugin for JRiver software to play m4a files directly, or for Quicktime (or Directshow) to be able to choose an audio device?

Thank you for your time,
Philippe

Media Center 16 has native M4A support.  Please make sure you have the latest installed, and that you have 'Automatic' selected in Options > File Types for M4A.

Thanks.

Embarrassed as I am, I must admit to posting this in the wrong section. I am actually using Media Jukebox, and not Media Center. Could this thread be moved, or should I just delete it?

Sorry for the mistake,
