INFERIOR PERFORMANCE ON W7-64 machine
« on: August 04, 2011, 04:32:12 pm »

I have used two laptops with Media Centre 16 since it was launched,
both of which are set up optimally.

One runs XP with ASIO (4GB RAM) , and the other is a faster, more powerful
W7-64 (8 GB RAM) machine, which is stripped out, ie. no unnnecessary programs
installed, and optimised for audio use, with WASAPI Event Style chosen.

Up to very recently, the W7 machine ALWAYS sounded better. When all the recent updates
were installed on both, the XP machine became much better, and the W7 machine
sounded worse. The XP is much better now than the W7 machine, no matter what
I do.

Any explainations?

Many thanks.

I hadn't used the machines whilst away on holiday 8th July>29th July.
When I started Media Centre 16,(on the 30th), updates automatically were installed.
