I just recently purchased Clint Black's Love Songs but when I went to download it to MC16
I didn't identify the the CD or tracks.  Is there a way to put in the CD name and them it would
fill in the CD name and all the tracks.

MC will use two databases for CD lookup: YADB and FreeDB.  It seems unlikely that mainstream artists/albums would not be found in one or the other, so perhaps MC is unable to complete the lookup for some reason (firewall, server maintenance, etc.).

CDs are looked up using an identifier that is calculated from contents on the disc.  If the disc info has not yet been entered into either of the two databases, performing a name lookup won't help.  It could be useful if the disc is a new, unique pressing, allowing you to search by name, using the returned information, and then you could correct/submit the new info.

Perhaps someone at JRiver can do an internal lookup.

In the mean time, maybe you can get a little more info via MC.

1) enable logging (Help->Logging, probably the Reader and General sections), and then have MC try again to look-up the CD
2) view the log in Notepad, searching for www.yadb.com (this will be the beginning of the look-up)
3) below that, you should see entries that look like:

0039500: 3592: General: CYADB::ParseCDLookupResult: Start
0039500: 3592: General: CYADB::ParseCDLookupResult: Found 1 matches.
0039500: 3592: General: CYADB::ParseCDLookupResult: Finish (0 ms)

How many entries did YADB claim it found?  If 0, there may be additional searches via freedb, but I don't have a disc to force that lookup, so can't see any relevant log entries.

I did what you said about logging couldn't find anything in the log it said it was empty
but it now reads the album name, artist and genre but not the titles

Another program kicked in that I didn't even know I had something like
Clear.fi and it showed all the normal detail that I would expect from MC.

Can't someone check the DB to see if this album is on it.

So it doesn't sound like logging was enabled.  It should look like the attached image.  Logging is enabled under Help > Logging.

I had to look-up Clear.fi - that seems to be an Asus utility.

If the disk look-up is returning an album name, artist, and genre, it sounds like album is being looked up correctly and found, but it seems like there is not track info yet in the DB.  There will be entries in your logging.  I suppose it is possible that this particular pressing of the disc has not had album info/track info updated in YADB.  In this case, you can enter it and Submit.

There are a number of different pressings of this CD; this is common.  So the JRiver folks will need to know your version of the CD, and will likely want logging info anyway to obtain the info used for lookup.  A look-up via YADB will look something like:

OK, I manually enter all the information, did a submit, then had it check the CD again and that
worked.

Sorry to hate to bother you again but now instead of my laptop I'm going to my desktop.  Since I entered it into
the data base but now on my desktop it can't find it.  It all came out just right on my laptop which I thought now
the YADB had all the info but apparently now.

Try this...

Go back to the Laptop, insert the disc, right-click on disc in Drives & Devices, and Submit to Online Database.  Do this only provided the Name, Album, Artist, Date and Genre are correct for each track.

Then, back at Desktop, insert disk, and Update from Online Database.

What happens?
