MJ8 can't restore a library unless the 'Backup' command has been issued in the same session. The symptoms are .... Library Manager will present an information box saying 'Please select the library you want to restore' instead of a file browser window. Opening a 'Backup' dialogue (even if you cancel the operation) will permit a subsequent 'Restore' to take place.

Are you trying to open a backup made with MJ 7.2 by using MJ 8.0?  That won't work.  They aren't compatible.

Testing in build 284, a backup works fine for me.  Anything special you're doing?

Backup works for me too. The problem is doing a restore during a session in which you haven't already done a backup.

Try quitting MJ, then start it, then restore the library.
