Author Topic: Playing m4p files with Quicktime Audio Engine gives silence [solved]  (Read 1609 times)

I've not seen this problem documented before, so I thought I'd share.

I finally got round to authorising my HTPC for iTunes DRM content (installed iTunes & Quicktime and did the 'Authorise this Computer' thingy in iTunes). Tried playing the m4p files in MC16 using the Quicktime Audio Engine option, but had silence even though the progress slider was moving. I thought that was a bit odd and that the authorisation process had broken.  Tried playing the file in Quicktime - still silence!

Anyway, deep in the preferences for Quicktime is an audio output selection and this was defaulting to the wrong output. It had defaulted to an offboard DAC that I only use the ADC part of to rip my vinyl. A quick change to the HDMI audio out and now working fine.

Hope this helps someone else. Took me a bit of head-scratching to figure out.
