I would like to know if MC will place nice with this antivirus software?

You'll have to try it.  Even programs that work sometimes download new signature files that cause problems.

I've just upgraded to ESS5 and MC 16 is working fine

I've been using NOD32 v5 even in beta and no problems here. You should be okay
