composer field from remote server not passed to renderer
« on: October 13, 2011, 10:52:11 am »

It looks like the composer field from remote servers is not being passed to renderers, but is filled in by JRiver. We are using the composer field to pass information to our renderer, but when using JRiver, this field does not get through. Is there and way to make this happen. ?

this DLNA server will show you Composer (and many more) fields in MC16 https://www.ripcaster.co.uk/node/600 as long as you rip your CDs with dBpoweramp.

It shouldn't matter what you use to rip.  It should only matter whether the right tags are filled in.

What I need , is to see if there is a way I can get JRiver to pass the composer field to a renderer from our server. We use this field to pass special information to our renderer. Currently JRiver will not play gapless on PSAudio products. I am trying to find a solution to this issue.

The composer field in Media Center is put in DLNA DIDL as upnp:author with a role="Composer".

Sorry I did not mean composer, I mean creator field. This field does not get passed to our renderer.

Creator is not a standard JRiver field, so there's no JRiver to DIDL mapping.

Can't it just be passed through?

DIDL only supports specific fields, so there has to be a mapping of JRiver fields to DIDL fields.  We could add extra mappings, but only for DIDL standards-compliant fields.

Composer is a DIDL standard field. And currently you fill it with the artist name, instead of just passing it through.
