was searchin in the forum for some asnwers.
saw this

I am also hearing only static sound...
but i am not using any DAC as current audio output format is "direct sound", playing direct on a laptop build-in speaker.

Actually i am testing on both foobar and JRiver on the same laptop.

If the DTS audio data is in the Wave container and the filename extension is .wav, you should be able to play the files after changing the filename extension to .dts. [see the edit]

If the DTS wave files are stored in some lossless format (FLAC, Wavpack, etc), you would need to convert the files to Wave first. (A lossless format cannot compress a DTS Wave file significantly anyway because the compressor sees the contents of a DTS Wave file as almost uncompressible noise.)

The DTS decoder plugin you have installed to foobar2000 may use a different mechanism than checking the filename extension for detecting the format.

EDIT

Actually, the recent MC16 builds detect and decode also DTS Wave files that have the filename extension .wav.

I just noticed that you actually said that the format is FLAC.

You can convert the files to Wave with MC. If the files have tags that you want preserve you can enable Wave tagging: http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/WAV_%26_AIFF_Tagging

Since the files are DTS encoded they are probably also multichannel files. You may need to set the channel options in MC's DSP Studio to have a proper downmix if you are using stereo speakers or headphones:

- DSP Studio > Output Format > Channels: 2 channels (stereo)
- DSP Studio > Output Format > Mixing: JRSS v2.0TM surround sound (recommended)

Million thanks to you, Alex B.
