Update fail - JRTools.dll

(1/2) > >>

wig:
The Update Channel is trying to install the latest version of MC17, and I receive this error

How do I stop the JRTools.dll process to allow the install to continue?

I had the same problem with MC16 at times.

mojave:
I get the same error whether I update from the file or use the update channels. It only happens on 1 of 3 computers that I use with JRiver.

JimH:
Did you try rebooting?

That's what I'm trying to avoid. I was hoping there would be a better solution, considering the frequency of MC updates. Isn't there a service or process I can kill?

mojave:
It seems to happen more if I have JRiver in a paused state rather than a stopped state when installing the upgrade. If using update channels, I can cancel, restart JRiver, press CTRL + J, and then let JRiver download the update again. It always works on the second try.

I do have library server running and if I close JRiver and then shut down the Media Center process before manually running the update file I have much better success.

Rebooting always fixes the issue for that installation, but is a hassle. I can work around rebooting.
