Author Topic: Increasing audio-video out-of-sync during playback with some MKVs [Solved]  (Read 1973 times)

I have a few blurays ripped to h264 and vc-1 (flac audio) in mkv containers that have an issue with av sync. I rip all blurays myself, and using the same method (eac3to) for all of them, I am surprised that there are errors on just a few.

It seems that video plays faster than it should. During the first minutes, sync is accepatable, after 10-15min audio delay is around 1sec and increasing (no scientific measurement here). MadVR reports 23.976Hz from mkv header, nvidia is set to 24Hz (I tried nvidia at 23Hz and 60Hz also, same result). It is repeatable, and no difference if I skip back and forth in the file.

I tested Standard RO and ROHQ with additional filters, same result. MadVR does not report glitches or skipped frames. Latency on my computer is never above 150micros and cpu load is low.

Would it help to remux the mkv with different fps? And could anyone tell me how to? I tried once forcing a slower fps using MKVmerge with no luck.

BTW, Cars 2 on bluray played fine directly from disc, but with this sync problem in the ripped .mkv.

I have never experienced this problem earlier. Statistically, I should have. Have something happened in later builds of madvr, LAV filters or MC? I run 17.0.046.

If this is a mkv problem, where would be the most appropriate place to post?

Maybe you could test the problem mkv in another player to see if the problem is in the mkv or in the player?

I will. I am also trying to resample the audio to 48kHz.

Installed VLC. Same problem there. MKV file problem, I will seek solution elsewhere.

This is a bit embarrassing - turns out that I have ripped the movies without setting video fps = 23.976 explicitly. MKVmerge then uses fps = 25....

Remuxed the problem files with 24000/1001 setting, and works fine.
