I have had media center since version 8.  my laptop recently needed to be reformatted, and I lost my version of media center 11 ..I  downloaded version 17...today I purchased it for $44.98....version 16 was loaded into my comp....when I requested update codes from j.river, they sent me valid registration codes for versions  8   11   and 17.  I think I should be refunded my money for version 17,  and if I do need to purchase 17 and can't be refunded my money, then I should have version 17  not 16.

You can download the latest version of MC17 here.

silly question, but if you didn't want MC17, then why purchase it?

MC16 is the latest stable release. You can download the MC17 Beta from one of the sticky threads at the top of the MC17 forum. Since you seem to have an MC17 license this should work.

I do want 17   I just don't think I needed to pay $44  if the upgrade is $18

Oh I see. Yes of course.

I guess one needs to have reinstalled MC/MJ and reinstated the license first. And then purchase the upgrade through the purchase bit of MC17 in order to automatically get the discount.
