MC17 weather problems
JimH:
I can see the problem. We'll fix it soon.
Matt:
Apparently NOAA doesn't understand all zip codes. For example, here you can see they can't find a latitude and longitude for 60290:
http://graphical.weather.gov/xml/sample_products/browser_interface/ndfdXMLclient.php?listZipCodeList=60290
I'm still brainstorming, but we may have to switch to picking from a list of cities + states.
Matt:
I can't find 60290 in this zip code database either:
http://zips.sourceforge.net/
Is it new? Maybe you could try a few nearby zip codes?
Richee:
Matt,
The zip I used was 1 of dozens I tried. I even tried
some local Arizona zips with no success.
At NOAA web site I tried zip 85051, 85017. They
both work on web page but not in Media Center.
Also tried 60601 in Chicago.
Looks like NOAA does not recognize 60290
USPS says:
CHICAGO IL 60290
This is a UNIQUE ZIP Code™ used for a specific company or organization
The point is, every zip I tried with NOAA in MC17 came up as not configured.
I like the idea of choosing city, st as opposed to zip. I believe most people are looking for weather in a City, St. I don't normally associate zip with city, st unless
I am sending a letter in the mail.
Richee:
Looks like MC 17.0.33 is the magic number.
NOAA now works for theaterview weather.
Thanks! Now back to the music.
And thanks for the constant improving of
an already great program.
