Audiophile Use
« on: July 14, 2013, 02:47:57 pm »

Hi,

Don't know if this has been discussed before, but I have a dedicated ASUS EEEbox PC connected to my HiFi system, it is a very small PC with an Intel Atom 330 / 1,6 GHz CPU. The PC has to manage a musicstreamer HD USB DAC connected to my amp, all Music is on a portable USB HDD.  Also I have connected an USB wireless mouse and keyboard. I'm not very good with computers so I ask the following questions.
Is there different Power supply or Power output in different USB ports? I belive that the more connected stuff the more you lower the capacity to drive the DAC and HDD.
Given the powersupply to drive an HDD what is the way to go, a "self" powered HDD or is it ok to use a HDD getting Power supply from only USB?
What is or is there any difference using a 2,5 inch or a 3,5 inch HDD?
All questions asked to get maximum audiophile quality.

Looking forward to your inputs.
