Hello,

When I insert a blu-ray, I get this message "Something went wrong with playback... Please install a blu ray reader...".

But, I have a blu ray reader. On my computer, I have also Power DVD 10 and it can read blu-ray disk. I have no problems with others DVD.

I am on Windows 7 64bits and my computer is Asus N73.

What can I do ?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.  You will need AnyDVD HD or equivalent.  You can read about Blu-ray  on our wiki.

Hello,

Thanks, that works and the quality is good indeed.

But, this software (AnyDVD HD) isn't free.

And I don't understand why I have to unprotect my blu-ray while I can read blu-ray on my computer with PowerDVD without doing anything.

Thanks for your explanations.

It's a long story, but Blu-ray is a "protected" format.  To be a member of the industry group costs $50,000.

ANYDVD HD allows the disc to be read so that a player can play it.

PowerDVD may be a member of the industry group.  We are not.  We would be if it were affordable.

Thank you very much for this explanation. I undestand.

But AnyDVD HD costs 79 euros. Is there a less expensive mean to be able to read blu-ray with J River MC17 ?

  • Requires "iTunes or better" so I installed JRiver

The wiki recommends either AnyDVD HD or DVDFab Passkey. I don't think there are any other options.

You can also use MakeMKV (free) to create an MKV from the Blu-ray and then play it back in JRiver.

Thanks. I will try DVDFab Passkey. It seems to be a freeware.

It isn't freeware.

Passkey Lite is free but I don't know in which extent is its power.
