I missed the push to v17 so I couldn't join the "where we're going discussion" in a timely manner, so I hope it isn't too late for this...
I do all of my tagging in Foobar because it has a plugin that pulls data from discogs.com through their API. Discogs has got to be the number one resource for release data on the internet. I would love LOVE it if MC could use a similar method to fill in metadata. I saw in the "where we're going" that there will be "carnac" tagging...? I've never heard of this, but a quick google makes it look like it's for tagging movies only.
Now, I wouldn't recommend taking the Foobar plugin and then just pull it in, but, in case you want to see what it does, here you go --
