For those who got some issue with their Creative sound card please find below the proper way to unistall your card in order to reinstall the good driver.

For those who are using Windows XP I DO NOT recommend to download your driver from http://www.soundblaster.com/support/winxp/

Instead get them from http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/drivers/welcome.asp
TO WINDOWS XP USERS
At the time of this product's release, Microsoft strongly encouraged companies to submit their hardware solutions for certification. If a hardware device driver is not submitted, or does not qualify, for Microsoft certification, a warning message appears.
You may see this warning message when installing this driver or update. If you do, you may choose to click the Continue Anyway button. Creative has tested this driver or update on Windows XP, and it does not impair or destabilize your computer.

Here is the best way to uninstall your card.

1. Start Windows XP in Safe Mode.

2. Close any Creative apps running eg. AudioHQ, Creative Launcher, Remote Center, Disc Detector.

3. Press CTRL   ALT   DEL  and click Task Manager. On the Processes tab, select devldr32.exe from the list and click End Process.

4. Uninstall all SB Live! drivers and software through Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.

5.  In Device Manager > Sound, Video, Game Controllers, right-click the SB Live! and Game Port for Creative SB Live! entries and click Uninstall...

6. In Windows Explorer, go to Tools > Folder Options and on the View tab, ensure that Show Hidden Files and Folders is enabled and that the Hide file extensions for known file types option is disabled.
7. Go to Start > Search > For Files or Folders... and search for and delete the following files if still present;
A3D.DLL
CTWDM32.DLL
DEVCON32.DLL
2GMGSMT.SF2
CTLFACE.SYS
EMU10K1F.SYS
SFMAN.SYS
SBLFX.DLL
DEVLDR32.EXE
SFMAN32.DLL
Please note if you get an error that a file cannot be deleted, right-click the file and rename it to .OLD instead. eg. DEVLDR32.EXE becomes DEVLDR32.OLD

8. To delete the INF file(s), go to Start > Search > For Files or Folders... and in the field Search for Files or Folders named, type oem*.inf
Then in the field Containing Text, type Creative and click Search Now.
Depending on how many Creative products you have installed, some files named OEMx.INF will be found where x is a number. Open each file and read the first few lines to see if there is a reference to SB Live!. If there is, close the file and delete it.

Good luck

So Clark...uh.. do you work for Creative?  I reported the problem to them as best I could a week ago.

In any case, thanks very much for taking the trouble.
