First time HTPC build
« on: November 29, 2011, 09:42:18 am »

This is going to be my first crack at building my own HTPC. I'm attempting to control 3 HDTVs, all with basic stereo audio (no surround sound at the moment). I would like to be able to control each TV independently. The trouble I'm having is picking the right combination of audio/video cards and signal splitters.

Would I be able to use a simple HDMI signal splitter that would allow me send my single source HDMI input (HTPC) to all three HDTVs (audio and video)?

If not, what type of setup would be needed?

Is a receiver necessary or can I set up my HTPC/JRiver MC to act as one?

Is JRiver able to send to multiple zones (HDTVs) through wired connections?

I look forward to any feedback that will help me get started.

Yes.  And a receiver isn't necessary.  If you have multiple outputs on your PC, you can usually split them into zones.
