I'm sold on J River even though my own ignorance makes it difficult to know what to do in Windows and when MC does it easier. The record function worked great and even got art and titles for vinyl, but self recorded Cd's wouldn't give info after I entered the title and artist and hit either of the look up on line options. The main question is can I uninstall the Clear Fi and Nero software that was preloaded on my computer and not miss anything? The Clear Fi occasionally engages unprompted.

You can always try to uninstall programs using the standard Windows feature. Remember to create your rescue disc as Acer recommends.
Consult the Acer forums to check if others have problems uninstalling programs from their Acers.
