Red October Update: Post any Issues
« on: December 03, 2011, 06:44:02 pm »

FYI - There has been a significant update to the filters being used by MC as part of the automated Direct Show playback (http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Red_October) including replacing FFDSHOW with LAVVideo and the use of madVR's HW assisted deinterlacing option where appropriate.

The changes are working so well for me that on the HTPC I have even removed the nVidia 550Ti card I was using as the IGP HD3000 (part of the i7 2600K) works just fine for the majority of content.  That said, there are 1001 different HW combo's out there so please post any issues, comment or findings.

If you have an issue, then post:
1) Your MC Config, eg RO or ROHQ, what Audio Connection / DSP you are using, etc.
2) The details of your file, eg the utility "MediaInfo" will provide info like below

My i7 system is working well with RO HQ video.

One question though. My system does not have an internet connection. After I run the MC installer (I just ran 46) do I have to do anything else or are the new filters included in the install?

All my Dvd rips seem to be working well but I'm not sure if I'm missing anything.

I'm impressed - a big change in RO and few issues!  Well done to both the JRiver team, madshi (author of madVR) and Nevcairiel (author of LAV Filters) for a smooth transition!
