Audio Streaming Issue with Gizmo
« on: December 08, 2011, 01:18:04 pm »

Thanks to media network function, I really enjoy audio files in my MC server using Gizmo.

I have no problem in playback any audio files over the phone except for 5.1ch DTS files in WAV or dts format.
When selecting a DTS file to playback in Gizmo...
Gizmo shows 'preparing' message for several seconds and skips to next song, and on and on.
I have tried to playback other multichannel files in FLAC format and there is no problem.
Only DTS files won't be played back in Gizmo.

My friend also has a similar(?) problem with Gizmo and he can NOT playback lossless files in his server.
He can playback mp3 files but no success for lossless files like flac, wav, etc.

What might cause this kind of problem?

Thanks for your endless support...  :)

Oh~ That's a good news. So, the DTS playback issue on Gizmo is a matter of MC17 support.

But what about my firend problem... MP3 works on Gizmo but lossless FLAC does NOT?
what should he check?

That would require conversion.

What do you mean by 'conversion' ?
Let me clearify the question...
I do NOT have any problem with streaming of lossless flac files in my server thru Gizmo.
However, strangely, my friend has no success on streaming of flac files in his server (but mp3 is OK).
What do you think is his problem? What should he check?

Maybe your friend has no conversion set.

How do I set conversion for Gizmo? I thought that it was automaticly set by MC and there are no different profiles to choose. I'm in understanding that profiles under Media Network are only used when client is another PC with MC.

If I could use profiles also for Gizmo it would allow me watch my videos over mobile network which is currently imposible as MC converts videos for Gizmo using bitrate of 2628 kbps making it only usable in LAN. (I would guess that most users are using Gizmo through WAN.)

Conversion is not configurable for Gizmo.  Allowing varying video qualities / bitrates is something we want to add to v17.

If your friend has an issue, ask him to start a thread on Interact.  We will need more details and maybe a sample file.

Thanks.
